Emily's Secret DIYs that Actually Works!

Hye. Today's post is extra special..

It's about DIY experiments that I have made myself and tried out - and I'm posting this because I want to help you too! Help save your money of course! *hehehehe*

Admit it... we all have spent so much of money on different kinds of beauty products, buying different kinds of skin scrub at different stores at different times -(thank you to all the adverts we see on tv and magazines) GOOD JOB GUYS - YOU BOUGHT US!

So... I am Indian - if you still do not know that fact. Indians generally have a darker skin tone compared to the other races. But mine is extra special. I was fairer than how I am now but because I loved the outdoor so much when I was younger - much more than I love or cared about my already-darkening-colour, I became 2 tone darker than my original skin tone!  I am not complaining but I definitely want to go back to how I was. Yes, I envy my younger days photos!

How can you be fair by using things in your kitchen!

Here's how!

1. Egg white mask

This is the first one on my list! Why? Because it is the easiest! Just break an egg and take only the egg white and paint your face with it! Keep it for 15-20 mins or until you feel your skin is tight and then u can wash it off with some warm water and you are done! Easy ryt?

2. Green tea scrub

This is also another easy scrub to make!
You need only 3 ingredients : Green Tea , White Sugar, and Lemon..  You can also add honey if you want to. By the way, green tea isn't difficult to fine. I used the green tea from the box of green tea bags I bought from the supermarket. Just cut 2 bags for one time use and mix that with 2 tablespoons of sugar and juice from half of a lemon. I just used my own finger and give them a good mix. And I didn't use a bowl. I mix them in a small container so that I can keep the extras for next time.

3. Sugar + Honey + Lemon

This is a little bit more of a higher level - just because this scrub has more ingredients! *heheehehe* So, the instructions to make this scrub is in the above picture. It's actually very simple! You ca use white sugar or brown sugar for this scrub. You can also add olive oil or coconut oil to give you that moisturizing/non dry effect in the end. While using this on my body, I can actually see the dirt or brown particles coming off my skin! (Eeeeuuuuuu but to see the result after you wash all that off! Awesome!)

oh and one more fact about me that you must know is that I am a little bit on the hairy side- thanx to my father's genes.. A girl being hairy is a huge workload! I have to shave my legs every time I want to wear skirts, short dresses or shorts, I have to shave my armpits whenever I want to wear sleeveless tops or dresses and my hands - I just don't do anything to them because it's pointless. So, this is why my husband has a special nickname for me. (Whenever he sees my legs during my unshaven days he gets excited and goes on calling me MONKEY the whole day! Until I run into the bathroom and shave them all off)

How to remove all those unwanted hairs?

1. Lemon + Coconut Oil + Sugar

This is the same as the above scrub. You can add the honey if you want to. That's optional. This also works best for before shaves and after shaves as it gives you the smooth-silky legs feeling that you desire! Enjoy that feeling for 1 week just by using this scrub! (actually it really depends on your hair growth rate) Oh, if you do this scrub regularly, your hair tends to grow at a slower rate - I don't know how or what it does to the root of the hair.. but who cares ryt? We want to get rid of that unwanted hairs and it works!

2. Half of a Lemon + Sugar on top

This is an easy scrub but FOR THOSE WITH SENSITIVE SKIN, BE CAREFUL because it could be very acidic and it might not suit your skin! Maybe you can try it on those less-sensitive areas first before doing it on your face! I first tried it on my armpit BUT REMEMBER TO NOT DO IT RIGHT AFTER YOUR SHAVE BECAUSE THEY COULD REALLY HURT the armpit area! You can also try in on your knee or elbow. Other than slowing the hair growth, this method also help to whiten that specific area if you do it regularly.

3. Coffee + Baking Soda

This is a new recipe I just found out and I tried only once! Ok, let me tell you one thing- it smells AMAZING! I am a coffee-addict! So, when I get the chance to lather coffee on my body, I rather not miss this chance! *hehehehehe* All of you already know the benefits of baking soda to our skin, ryt? If you don't know, you can read it here or here. This combo of coffee and baking soda just brings you to another level! You only need 2 ingredients for this - Coffee Ground and Baking Soda.. I used the pure unused coffee ground for this purpose because I love the smell which is definitely stronger. You can also use the coffee ground residue that you get from your home coffee machine. Just get 4 tablespoons of the coffee grounds and add 4 tablespoons of baking soda to that. Again, do this in a small container that you can use for later purpose - we don't want to waste all that goodness just after 1 use. So, you just mix both these up and rub it on your wet legs or hands or anywhere you don't want hair to grow! Make sure you wet that area with warm water for about 10 mins first. This is to let the pores open up. If you have a bath tub at home, just soak in some nice warm water for 10 mins and start scrubbing! *have fun!*

I also have another problem. I have very oily skin. If I wash my face at 10 am, the oil starts coming out at 11 am- without me stepping out of the house! IMAGINE THAT! Now, you believe me..it is that oily! I have used many skin products for that purpose... some just made it worst and some just doesn't have any effects on my skin. So, once in awhile I do this to help with my oily skin problem- and it definitely helps curb the problem! Oh and its easy on your pockets too! Double Yeay!

1. Green tea Scrub/ Mask

You can have this as a 2 in 1 process. First, have a nice cup of green tea! After that, cut the bag and pour all the insides in a bowl and mix it with some honey and apply that on your face - you are done! Leave it for 20 minutes and wash it off. You will feel your face so clean, less oily and rejuvenated!

2. Lemon + Honey + Baking Soda

3 ingredients scrub! Easy ryt? Did you notice that I use the same ingredients there and here? That is to make my life easier! Just buy a few lemons and a box of baking soda and I can do wonders! Actually, don't worry, if you don't have lemon or honey at that particular time, you can just make a mixture of baking soda with some warm water and rub your face with that. You can wash right away or leave it for awhile - as a mask and wash after 10 minutes.

OK! That is all for now! Got to go! My major responsibility is calling me - MY BIG BABY IS BACK FROM WORK.

Enjoy trying out the masks/ scrubs!
